Mawby was an internationally recognized philanthropist focused on enhancing young people's lives globally. He joined the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in 1965, became vice - president in 1967, and CEO in 1970. Under his 25 - year leadership, the foundation became a world leader in supporting groups improving people's quality of life. He retired in 1995. Before that, he was a professor at Purdue and Michigan State University, ending his career at MSU in 4 - H youth programming. He helped form the Council of Michigan Foundations and the Michigan Non - Profit Association and still serves on their boards. He's on the Michigan Community Service Commission.
