2 Vols: Thomas Jefferson & the New Nation/Writings Easton Press Leather Bound

This 2-volume set features two great books about Thomas Jefferson. 'Thomas Jefferson and the New Nation, a Biography' is written by Merrill D. Peterson and was published in 1987 by The Easton Press. 'The Writings of Thomas Jefferson' is edited by Saul K. Padover and was published in 1967, also by The Easton Press. Both are in the special Easton Press Edition. The books are in good condition. Their covers have some damage like scuffing, soiling, and shelf-wear. 'The New Nation' has some tarnishing of the cover design and occasional staining in margins. 'Writings' is slightly cocked and has included newspaper ephemera on page 44. The text blocks are entirely gilded with some scratching and scuffing, and 'The New Nation' has staining on the text block. Both books have bookplates on the front pastedown, an embossed symbol on the front free-ends' lower corners and on a central page's lower corner. The pages are bright, clean, intact, and legible. The bindings are tight and sturdy. Both books come with a ribbon bookmark that has some creasing.

These books are great for reading about Thomas Jefferson. To use them, simply open the pages and start reading. When handling, try to keep your hands clean to avoid further soiling. For storage, place them on a shelf away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. If you notice any dust on the covers, you can gently wipe it off with a soft cloth. Be careful when turning the pages to avoid tearing, especially since the text blocks have some scratching. Don't remove the bookplates or the ribbon bookmarks as they add to the book's charm.
