This 2-volume set includes two valuable books. The first one, 'A Handbook of the Flowering Plants and Ferns of the Central and Northeastern United States and Adjacent Canada', is written by Benjamin Lincoln Robinson and Merritt Lyndon Fernald. Published by the American Book Company in 1908, it's the 7th edition. The second book, 'The Modern Nursery: A Guide to Plant Propagation, Culture and Handling', is authored by Alex Laurie and L.C. Chadwick. It was published by The Macmillan Company in 1938 and reprinted in March of the same year. The books are in acceptable condition. There's some rubbing on the edges, and the material is starting to fray. There's stamping on the text blocks, along with soiling and minor foxing. The pages have yellowed with age, but there's only minor soiling that doesn't affect readability. The bindings are secure, and the dust jacket of 'The Modern Nursery' is also in acceptable condition.

These two books are great resources for plant enthusiasts. To use them, simply open and read through the pages to gain knowledge about flowering plants, ferns, plant propagation, culture, and handling. When handling the books, be gentle as they are old and the edges may fray. Avoid getting them wet to prevent damage. Store them in a dry and cool place to maintain their condition. If you want to keep them for a long time, you can use book covers to protect them from dust and physical damage.
