Product Description

This set includes three vintage Barnes & Noble chess handbooks. The first book, 'Chess for Beginners: A Picture Guide' by Al Horowitz, published in 1959, is great for newbies. 'Complete Book of Chess Openings' by Fred Reinfeld, copyrighted in 1958, offers in - depth opening strategies. 'First Book of Chess' by I. A. Horowitz & Fred Reinfeld from 1960 (7th Printing) is also part of the collection. The books are in acceptable condition. All three have moderate foxing and soiling on the covers. The spine of 'First Book of Chess' is discolored, and 'Chess for Beginners' has creasing on the covers and spine. All books have broken spines, but the pages are clean. The bindings of 'Chess for Beginners' and 'First Book of Chess' are stiff, and all text blocks are foxed.

These vintage chess handbooks are perfect for chess enthusiasts. To use them, start by picking the book that suits your skill level. If you're new to chess, 'Chess for Beginners' is a great start. Read through the pages at your own pace, and you can even practice the moves on a chessboard as you go. For more advanced players, 'Complete Book of Chess Openings' will help you develop better opening strategies. When handling the books, be gentle because they are vintage and have broken spines. Try not to bend the pages too much to avoid further damage. To maintain them, store the books in a dry and cool place. You can use a bookend to keep them upright and prevent more wear on the spines. Also, avoid eating or drinking near the books to keep the pages clean.
